Our Mission

Every young person deserves a chance to succeed.

The Ripple Effect exists to create opportunities for young people who may face economic, educational, social, or environmental barriers to success.

Our approach begins with positive relationships and structured activities. Through boxing and a developing network of academic, health, and mentoring programs, we aim to help children build discipline, confidence, physical well-being, resilience, and a stronger sense of personal responsibility.

We believe that when one child receives the guidance and opportunity to grow, the benefits can extend to their family, school, neighborhood, and future generations.

Our philosophy: A meaningful investment in one child can create a ripple effect throughout an entire community.

Our Community

Who We Serve

Our programming is designed to reach young people who would benefit from structured after-school opportunities, encouragement, and additional community support.

Our Primary Focus

Boys ages 7–13 from low-income households in Youngstown and surrounding communities. Eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals may be one indicator of financial need.

Broader Youth Opportunities

We welcome inquiries regarding boys and girls ages 7–17, with participation determined by availability, age appropriateness, and capacity of specific programs.

Second Chances

We seek to provide constructive opportunities for eligible court-involved and justice-involved youth through appropriate referrals and individualized support.

Help Us Build the Future

We have a building. Now we need to bring the vision to life.

The Ripple Effect owns a building at 520 St. Louis in Youngstown, Ohio. The property requires rehabilitation and improvements before it can support our full planned youth development operations.

With support from donors, foundations, businesses, skilled trades professionals, and community partners, we aim to transform the space into a safe, functional center for boxing, academic support, mentoring, and additional youth programs.
